Jack Corbett Teacher and Spiritual Mentor
After the brief one-and-only meeting with Steve Tomlinson the direction he gave turned out to be a watershed, which would eventually lead me to the International Spiritual Medium and Healer - Jack Corbett of Leicester.
It wasn’t that easy, so after some months of going to various spiritualist churches and centers I was invited to a ‘physical meeting’. It was suggested that I was going to see my father. I was very skeptical, but I still went. Well, all I can say is, 'table-tapping' and 'is anyone there' was not the pathway I was seeking. Afterwards, I remember looking into the evening sky and saying if this is what it’s all about it’s definitely not for me. But, the next day I thought about my one meeting with Jack Corbett the previous autumn, and after some time, managed to get his telephone number. I rang and to my surprise Jack said 'I’ve been waiting for you to call'.
The following Saturday I went with my wife Linda to meet the great man. Common-sense, happiness and fun were the ingredients to the path Jack had taken, he was a much respected International Medium, yet very humble, knowledgeable and incredibly gifted. After a series of what I now see as tests Jack confirmed that 25 years before he had been told I was the one who he would teach. Despite this Jack ponder about being told, the name of John was important, but Jack said your name is Stephen. Jack’s surprise soon went, what he didn’t know was that ‘John’ is a family name passed down from eldest son, to eldest son, through the generations of my family. Jack laughed and again tested me but I had passed, the teaching commenced. It was exactly nine years to the day, of working; seeking and enjoying spiritual teaching by the most gifted spiritual man I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Jack was always a tough taskmaster. After taking a Public Demonstration Jack would tell me where I had gone wrong, how to improve, whom I passed messages to, or whether there was a break in either the philosophy, or the clairvoyance. It seems simple, but not so when you think that at many of my meetings he could be in Leicester, I could be in Newcastle or Salisbury. Jack was a master and the most highly developed medium I have even had the privilege to meet.
I travelled to Jack’s home every Friday evening for exactly nine years to the day. 28 miles either way may not appear much, but Jack would always say: “Even if you are gifted, you still need dedication, effort and you have to put the time in – if you do the spirit world will back to you in abundance - never forget that the abundance, is for others, and not yourself”. Jack Corbett trained me for the “Public Platform” handing over to me the Presidency of the Spiritual Unfoldment Group “The Golden Circle of Spiritual Light” in 1990. Golden Circle simply means: “The Sun by Day and the Moon by Night - Perpetual Light”.
I knew very little of Jack’s family his wife Doris had passed many years before I met him, his Son Colin is an established and gifted Magician of many years standing. He had brothers and sister and a Granddaughter who married an American Airman. In spite of everything I know very little of his family, our time together was always dedicated to the spiritual.
Jack’s own spiritual journey was to gain understanding through the simplicity of eternal life, which we in earth seem to make so difficult. Jack saw the whole world in the context of family, he would say the trouble with families is: “We tend to fall out with each other, let’s forget the differences and see the similarities and move forward together as one”. Jack passed through the gates of eternity and into the World of Light on Friday July 21st 1991 - we had lost one of our truly greatest Spiritual Mediums and Healers.
The legacy Jack left has been seen through my spiritual and training work. I have now have over twenty five years on the ‘public platform’ throughout and beyond the United Kingdom. I am able to bring together the skills attained as a member of professionally recognised training body, The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, with the many years of experience gained from Jack Corbett my Spiritual Teacher and Mentor.
Like Jack Corbett my philosophy is simple, very much based on a common-sense an approach to combining the natural spiritual energy forces with the everyday problems of material life.
