The Mediums Prayer
I live for those who love me
For those who know me true
For the Heaven that smiles, before me
And awaits my spirit too!
For the cause, that lacks assistance
And all the wrongs, that needs resistance
For the future, out in the distance
And all the good that I can do!
Steve Tomlinson of Nottingham
This first small poem was given to my wife Linda, after our one and only meeting with the Spiritual Medium Steve Tomlinson of Nottingham. The poem was kept for over twenty years in a small box with the spiritual teachings given to me by Jack Corbett. One day, I looked again at the poem and realised, it was speaking about the work of mediumship. There was no title to the poem, so I gave it the name “The Mediums Prayer”. To me it is talking about the work of spiritual mediumship.
The second poem was on the wall of a local Chiropractor Phil Mortimer in Nottingham. Philip's father was a Carpenter all of his life, in later part of his life, he started to write poetry, the inspiration of his life times work with wood is evident and I believe inspiring within this small poem.
The Oak Tree
O great oak tree, so tall, so grand
You have claimed, this piece of land,
You have stood there, since your birth
Your roots go deep set within the earth
Many summers, you have seen
When your leaves, were fresh and green,
You have felt the north wind blow
Stood here, amid the falling snow
With acorns squirrels, you have fed
In your boughs, the birds have bred,
I wonder what year, you were born
When you grew, from small and tiny acorn?
Your true age, we shall never know
Till the woodman, strikes his heavy blow,
Than as you lie, they’re in the lumber
Your annual rings, we then, shall number.
Edward L Mortimer
I hope these small poems are of benefit to you.
