Meaning of Flowers

In the early 1980’s my wife Lyn and I had a chance to buy a high-class Fruiterers and Florists in Nottingham. After only a few weeks of trading my wife was asked by a friend whose mother had just passed into the World of Light for three wreaths for her funeral.

I purchased the floral tributes from a local florist. I was so disappointed, but it was to late to change them - the funeral was that day. Well, if they can do them – why not me?

So I set about learning how to make wreaths and floral displays in the late evenings. Surprise, surprise! I always had an artistic streak through my life and should have gone to Art College, but flowers and their arrangement - I wasn’t sure. Yet, to my amazement it came so naturally. When people came into the shop having lost a loved one; I simply spiritually atttune to their sadness, gained inspiration and produced some wonderful floral work.

My favourite was for my Aunt Rowey’s funeral, who passed into the World of Light in February 1982. I was asked by the family to do all of the flower work; it even surprised the Funeral Directors who could not believe that someone without training had produced such beautiful work. But, I had been trained, by the gentle hands of my Spirit Guides.

My belief in flower work is the same as my spiritual work. The energy, effort, thought and love, put into my flower work became the catalyst for spiritual development and stimulated my natural communication with those who had taken that simple step ahead. As a florist and “Spiritual Medium” flowers and their individuality, strength and fragrance inspired me. They give from themselves through their beauty; this is evident in their ability to uplift humanity. It is obvious that we gain comfort from their colour and the bouquet, all of which brings a heartfelt reminder of loved one’s who have moved out of this world and into the World of Light!

Only just before the Christmas I was working in Sheffield at Bold Street Spiritualist Church, at the end of the evening of clairvoyance I had brought two bunches of Orange Roses. The first bunch if I remember correctly was to a lady. But, the other went to a gentleman, it is not that men don’t get flowers but it is rather rare. On this occasion I was instructed to give them them to the gentlemen and so I did. After the service he came up to me to explain, that the Orange Roses were significant to him and his wife. Sadly, his wife is suffering from Alzheimer’s but he was so please to say that the following morning he would place the roses at the side of her bed in the hospital. At times like these one remembers the old adage, it is far better to give that to take.

I have many instances of where flowers a single bloom, or a bunch, has given comfort to people seeking support and spiritual help. Flowers are an insight into a person’s spirituality, this showing the path to ones “Inner Soul Self”. This often-objective projection of mind focus allows me to draw closer to the realisation of person spirituality and spiritual development.

I received this information on Tuesday April 19th 1983. I was simply told to get a pen and paper and my Great Spirit Guide Thundercloud dictated some simple yet poignant words and pros. In all, twelve flowers were given from the “Spiritual Violet, to Carnations – which heralds great Tenderness" and on to the "Monarch of the Flower World – the Rose, those priceless gems to obtain”.

The flowers I give at my public meetings whether at Theatres, Hotels, Town Halls or at Spiritualist Churches it is the happiness in the eyes of those who receive the flowers that make it all worth while. This short verse was given to me after I had taken a very special funeral service. It was given to a close friend, the verse was given to me by her sister, it may be of help to you:

“Giving without thought of receiving is compassion in action, the most powerful and unconditional act of generosity”

I would also very much like to thank those caring people, from all over the world, who have sent such kind words and support. May I add a personal – Thank You!

A spiritual thought on flowers! Like the flowers:

“The fragrance of a good life shall abide forever”
