In 1956 Villiers Street Christian Spiritualist Church was opened after many years of its members meeting in various rooms. The founding President Violet Pearson and fourteen members managed to raise a mortgage to purchase a bombed out site of six houses on its current location and began building of the church.

From the beginning Mrs Pearson affiliated the church with the Greater World Spiritualist Church. Mrs Pearson remained President for 25 years, before retiring to Scotland in 1981. Mr Ron Atter then took over until his passing away in 1994. Another founder member, Mrs Cilla Kemble, then held the presidency for a further two years. Since then the church President has been Mrs Gayle Downie Greater World Minister.
