Portobello Spiritualist Church
This year has seen Portobello Spiritualist Church’s 60th Anniversary and I have recently visited them again in early September. Portobello is a very 'special' Spiritualist Church. It is hard to put into words the warmth and welcome, perhaps the easiest way to explain would be if you are fortunate enough to be in the great City of Edinburgh – then make a visit, I am sure you will not be disappointed!
Over the last 25 years, I have given flowers at the end of my Spiritual Meetings. It was through my work in floristry, many years ago, that I received inspiration, this was particularly helpful when making and arranging funeral tributes. On the very odd occasions my wife Linda and I have received flowers in the way of a thank you. But one very exceptional memory was at a special, special Spiritualist Church in Scotland.
Portobello Spiritualist Church, located just on the outskirts of the great City of Edinburgh is one such special “Spiritual” Church. After a Special Evening of Clairvoyance in September 2005, both my wife and I were completely taken aback, by receiving a most wonderful presentation of flowers. The flowers were indeed very beautiful, in the National Colours of Scotland, with a most beautiful arrangement of different coloured thistles, also included were White Carnations, a flower special to me, which holds great significance. The kindness and thoughts of our friends in Scotland, and the special place that Portobello has become to us both, encapsulates the very essence of all “Spiritual Work”. The generosity and kindness of our friends at Portobello along with their thoughtfulness brings back in an instance the importance of giving, and the joy of receiving.
This year again my wife Linda and I were presented with a wonderful collection of ‘Scottish Flowers’ including a special White Rose of Scotland and of course heathers and other native Scottish plants. Now we have a part off Scotland in our home garden and always a reminder of this wonderful Spiritualist Church. Our thanks and thoughts always go out to June and Patrick Herraghty, Minister Bernice Winstanley, and of course our host and gifted Scottish Medium, the very spiritual David Wilson.
Again, many thanks to a most wonderful Spiritual, Spiritualist Church, perhaps if you are in Edinburgh you may go and enjoy the company of spiritual friendship given by the President, Committee and Members of the Church.
Portobello Spiritualist Church is located at 20a Bath Street, Portobello, Edinburgh EH15 1HD. There are Sunday Services at 6.30, Tuesday Clairvoyant Service at 7.30pm with Wednesday 7.30pm Meditation and Healing. On Friday there is either 2.30pm Clairvoyance and ‘Special Evening’s of Clairvoyance’ start at 7.30pm. For more details contact on: 0131 669 4780.
