Reiki Healing

Personal Note

Though I am a Spiritual Healer I am fully aware that my primary gift is within “Spiritual Mediumship”. I always feel that it better to be a master of one thing, rather than poor at many. Therefore, when seeking information on “Reiki Healing” a subject of great interest too many, it was better to speak to my friend Claire Coseno from Kent, Ohio in the United States of American.

Claire is Reiki Master, with many years of great experience, so please find some in-depth knowledge from a truly wonderful Spiritual Healer and “Master of Reiki”.

Reiki Healing

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning “universal life energy”. Reiki is an alternative healing technique used to reduce stress and promote relaxation that can help begin the healing process of the body, mind and spirit. This life force energy can be defined as energy in all created matter.  “Ki” is similar in thought to “chi” or “qi” in Chinese medicine, Hindu Prana” and Christian “light”. Reiki is hands on energy healing where the practitioner serves as an open channel for transmitting the “chi” to others. The energy is channeled through the hands to the client, which activates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself.  Reiki goes to wherever it is needed most, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins, working to create a state of balance and harmony, and promoting relaxation and healing. In its long history Reiki has been used for virtually every known illness and injury from minor to serious problems.

This technique has been practiced for thousands of years that date back to Biblical times and the earliest known written records of Sanskrit. Reiki is not a religion but spiritual in nature. It is not dependent on belief and will work with your higher self, knowing what the body, mind and spirit need and can be defined as Spiritually Guided Life Energy. Reiki is a healing energy that can only be channelled by someone that has been attuned to it. It is Universal Life Energy that is guided by the Highest Power of Spiritual Consciousness and is both powerful and gentle. Since Reiki is guided by the Highest Spiritual Consciousness, it can never do harm and always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself accordingly to each individual.  Reiki is both powerful and gentle.

What can Reiki Treat?

In its long history, Reiki has been used for virtually every known illness and injury from minor to serious problems and is a safe complement to Western medicine, Chinese medicine, homeopathy and all other forms of allopathic and holistic healing. Reiki can provide accelerated healing from trauma, injuries and surgery.  It serves for emotional healing, prevention of illness and behaviour issues.  Reiki has been used with patients in Hospice easing the transition to the other side.

Reiki is a particularly gentle technique because it is non-invasive and non-manipulative.  Treatments can be used to facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.  Treatments can be done on oneself, others, animals, plants, etc. You can and should continue to receive regular medical or psychological treatments while receiving Reiki treatments.

What will happen during my Reiki session?

The process of hand positions and treatment will be explained and any questions or concerns addressed before your session begins. You will lie on a massage table or sit in a comfortable chair while fully clothed. It is suggested that loose fitting clothes be worn for the session for the comfort of the client. A pillow may be placed under your head and/or knees.  You will be able to release from your mind all thoughts and fears.  Let go; relax as soothing music is played for your enjoyment and relaxation. Your practitioner, while moving around you, will use various hand positions on or near your body to assess your energy strengths and weaknesses.

The energy is then channeled to these areas of weakness and then into your entire body, releasing blocked energy.  You may experience warmth, tingling or buzzing.  You may fall asleep as you begin to relax and unwind. Please note a Reiki practitioner does not diagnose conditions, perform medical treatment or prescribe medications.

Hawayo Takata

Most western Reiki practitioners have a lineage line back through Mrs. Takata. She brought Reiki to the West.  This wonderful healing power called Reiki would not be recognized if it were not for Takata. She taught and practiced Reiki for over forty years. She facilitate astonishing healings, attuned numerous men, woman and children, and fulfilled a number of enterprises. During her teaching, she did not give her students a manual or printed materials, and she did not allow them to take notes. When they practiced their Reiki symbols they would destroy the paper after class.  Her philosophy and work were not recorded. The memory of twenty-two Reiki Masters, her Level 11 and Level I students is the knowledge we have to rely on to develop her methods of practicing and teaching Reiki.

Takata’s training was intense with one year of internship at Dr. Hayashi’s clinic in Tokyo in 1935.  This was a four-day training session. On the first day, the students were taught the basic hand positions for treating above the neck and the conditions associated with the neck.  The second day was the position of the front of the body, and the third day was the treatment of the back of the body. The fourth day dedicated to accidents, and special aliments of the body and the spiritual aspects of Reiki and the Five Ideals. Each student was given a copy of Hayahi’s healing guide, which gave a list of diseases and the positions to be used for treatment of these diseases.  Hayahi emphasized in his treatments that this always a cause and effect to each aliment. You could heal the body but you also need to eliminate the cause of the disease or it would return.
