Difference between the Psychic Ability or Spiritual Gift

Psychic Ability or Spiritual Gift

There is without doubt, a significant difference between the abilities of the psychic and the depth of spirituality attained within the gift of mediumship.  Each, however have their own part to play whilst featuring in the rich tapestry of life. Indeed, there are many forms of sensitivity.

I had a very early experience with fortune-telling whist serving with the Royal Navy. It was whilst I was in harbour in Singapore, a group of other young sailors talked about their experiences with local fortune-tellers in a village outside of the Naval Dockyard, in a village called Sembawang, or when visiting the naval paradises in Boogis Street. With great anticipation I also visited the fortune-teller, the very next day.  What he told me has come true and clearly equates with me. This proved an early experience for me and gave me a realisation of the need for both the psychic and the spiritual medium.

Both sides of my family have links with Romany Gypsies. My Mother was born in a Gypsy Caravan (the rounded version) and my Dads Mother; Connie was of Gypsy descent, having the family name of Smith, a well-known Romany surname. Nevertheless, I personally have little, or no time, to get involved in other energy forces, that are aligned to the psychic; I personally do not see a direct link to my past family, in respect of my own mediumistic gifts. Most certainly, both abilities and gifts have their own part to play. But the dedication of time, effort and work for spiritual unfolding and enlightenment provides the depth and understanding for the special gift of mediumship.

Often the psychic will use a variety of ways to focus their personal attention, thus tuning themselves into their own sensitivity.  As a boy I remember the old lady who lived around the corner. Mrs Shaw read the tea leaves to the amusement of my young school friends. The use of these gifts is often for foreseeing, offering advice on the future. The use of the Tarot Cards, Astrology, Palmistry and Playing Cards are aids to improve mental concentration.  All of these are psychic and are not spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts provide vision and are an increased and attuned sensitivity reflected through our natural senses.  In this way we are capable of being contacted by people from the World of Light who extended our spiritual comprehension.

The psychic is a part of the greater plan, an integral aspect of divinity that interacts with the concepts of the whole. Yet, spiritual understanding allows us of us to connect with greater energies that interact within both worlds. The intercommunicative state, through the total concept of mind intelligence, provides realisation of the divine force created from the hands of the creator of all things, the Architect of the Universe, the one man calls God!

If one can see the medium as a vessel then the understanding of mediumship becomes clearer.  To be filled with total love from the World of Light. To embrace the whole, with complete and unbounded love, is the essence of mediumship, to be filled with the emotive, compassionate, and abounding energy of life with the capacity to extend, is the essence of the love bond between the two-worlds. Within the environment of mediumship one should always be aware that a mediums does not manufacture the World of Light, which means, we should not try to force the communicative channel through. Mediums can, and are not able, to interlink with those who have passed into eternity. However, if the energy is conducive, capable of interacting on a vibrational link with those discarnate people from the World of Light, and through this process pass on information, to those within the energy band of the earth dimension.

Time has moved on, we that seek light should be assured that the true work of mediumship is to interact with the people who have entered the etheric World of Light.  In most instances, when we commence our quest for spiritual knowledge, we wish to make contact with loved ones, to ascertain the continuity of life after physical death, in this process to seek, and to understand the realisation, understanding and concept of life itself.  This is the reason why mediums must allows those from the World of Light to enter into their fields of communication, and learn how to ascend away from physical vibrations, thus allowing our senses to adjust into higher frequency levels, balancing with those closer to the concepts of eternal life. In short to make that step out, towards the etheric world, allowing the gift to interact within the higher levels of communication. This is the essence of mediumship. It is through the heightening of the senses that the vessel can be filled with information from the spirit and from such the message of eternal life flows forth.

The interpretation of sign and symbols is essential, the trained mind is conscious that a picture paints a thousand words. It is the ability of the medium to embrace the energy and emotions of those who transmit information from higher levels of understanding. Interpretation is the vital ingredient essential within the development of the gift, in which one can convey the total realisation of love in its truest sense. The level of development is in accordance with the unfoldment of the individuals’ gift.  You can only receive what you can understand; the interpretation is for the benefit of others.

Under the direction of Jack Corbett, I was soon to realise the importance of training and the unfoldment of each individual gift. Because of Jack’s coaching I had the great fortune of having a remarkably gifted spiritual teacher and mentor.  It was through his philosophical style to mediumship, that the obstacles befitting so many, were taken away. Jack taught me how to allow the true flow of the spiritual gift to enter beyond unfoldment and into a fuller sense of mediumship. Love is the bridge between the two-worlds; it is through the true meaning of unconditional love that we are capable of passing information. Love of life, of people, of children, of others is the key to unlocking the mechanism of spiritual communication.

The World of Light is a vibrant community of people freed from the restraints of earth. The message is simple that a community of people are freed from the limitations of matter, who pass information, about their continuity of life, to loved ones, who are still here in the earth environment. The medium must capture and encapsulate the vibration through the altered state of the mind and pass the information to the loved one as they feel, sense and interpret it.  Thoughts, feelings and emotions are living things, focus on these conditions and you are able to understand the altered state of consciousness, or higher level of the mind. In this way, you have to clearly relay the information received, and eliminate your own thoughts. Of course this takes time, effort and understanding. Focus and correct training, allows the subconscious mind of the medium to be put to one side for the period of communication; thus, the message is not clouded, and does not become incoherent or illegible to the recipient. It is essential not to misinterpret the message, by jumping to any form of conclusion. The art of true mediumship is to give a message as you receive it, with emotion, love and compassion.

Deep-trance mediumship is very rare gift in this day and age. Sadly, there are some who have asserted themselves to pseudo-trance. Strange garbled messages, that often relies on second-hand spurious information, transferring information that could be obtained through any book, or leaflet.  In the past there has been incredible gifted trance-mediums, whose spiritual gifts have stood the test of time. The whole purpose of trance is an altered state of consciousness; indeed all true spiritual mediums, unlike the psychics, take steps into various states of control.  The ethos of trance is that a message is not given through a second person, the medium, therefore being the second person. All communication is weakened by the amount of links in the chain by taking the medium out of the direct equation, the message become merely an unconscious part of the process. This state is vital, it is difficult, yet if a person is truly gifted this can happen, seldom yes but in the old days, it was more common. Misuse and abuse have reduced genuine trance mediumship, today, we now have only a very few exponents in the world.

Deep-trance is a very extraordinary gift, where information can be passed that is not deficient. The pleasantries of the spirit world are well documented; but the truly gifted exponent of trance passes information to loved ones in a manner that out-strips mental mediumship, bringing verification of survival of physical death beyond any doubt. This must be the benchmark of genuine deep-trance, if this is not given, one has not been witness to the true words of spirit stepping through the veil of eternity. Those who posses the wonderful gift have to be trained to go into this deep state of unconsciousness. It is through this state that the spirit world uses the mediums as a vessel, to project the conditions of the World of Light through direct communication.

I have great fortune to have the gifts of clairvoyance in both its objective and subjective states. Objective is to see the form of spirit, subjective is to see the form of spirit through the portal of the mind, or as some say, through the minds eye. My teacher Jack Corbett was a deep-trance medium, perhaps it is an area of spiritual work that I may be directed upon, but not one I envisage for the next few years.

The whole concept of physical mediumship is a long and protracted one. Many books have been written on the subject. But, in this age is appears that we are more adapt to the sate of mental mediumship and as such the protagonist should perhaps work upon their own spiritual unfoldment and develop the path that the World of Light has set in place.

It is those from the World of Light who do most of the work, we do very little; we simple present ourselves, put time and effort into improving our capacity to extend our individual gifts linking ourselves to Spirit as we walk the pathway of life. Hard work and effort are the benchmark for all knowledge and spiritual attainment.  We all must work to gain knowledge from the greater minds of those in the great World of Light. I am convinced that there will always be mediums, to channel or to carry the great message that all life is eternal, and that we can never die. If we can take timeout and gain inner-peace true spiritual knowledge will take away fear, allowing us to build the bridge of love. It is through this eternal link that this world and humanity needs and for this very reason the work of the medium and the psychic are very important, in this ever-changing world.

I am of the belief that each gift has its one individual part to play in the building a better world, the collective of both will help transform this world for the travellers in matter, both today and future days.

Yours in Truth

Stephen
