I have a simple painting by Vincent Van Gogh of a bridge. I have it placed in my ‘special’ room, the one I use for my spiritual work. Though, a simple print from the hand of a great artist, the painting illustrates to me the significance of mediumship. To me this work of art portrays my work as a ‘Spiritual Medium’. A simple bridge that is all we are. It may seem straightforward, but the purpose of mediumship should be uncomplicated. Use the divine gift to allow people from the world of spirit to cross and for a short time establish a link with those still in earth.
Spiritual knowledge is truth and light, and we mediums are but lighthouses, transmitting light to the traveller as they walk in matter. Mediums are simply a ‘bridge’ which brings forward the beautiful gifts of the Spirit; that all mankind may share in the happy news; that we can never die. So we must direct the light even into the darkest of places, that all may come to know that in that future day, we shall meet again.
Mediumship carries a great responsibility, and is able to feel and become aware of things outside of the physical. Thus mediums bring the two-worlds together; to allow Spirit to cross the bridge and for a short time establish a contact with a dear one still in earth. They bring together the ‘Soul World’ and the ‘Earth World’, that man may find comfort peace and joy, as he travels towards the homeland.
